Brad Furukawa is vice president and chief information officer for Northrop Grumman’s Space Technology sector. He is responsible for defining the information technology strategic direction for the sector and for delivering cost-effective, timely, high-quality internal information technology (IT) solutions and services, which align with the sector’s business priorities.
A 25-year Northrop Grumman veteran, Mr. Furukawa has held a series of progressively challenging leadership positions such as execcutive director and chief technology officer for Northrop Grumman’s IT Solutions organization; executive director over enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise program office; and senior director over the software engineering organization.
As the chief technology officer, Mr. Furukawa provided the leadership in defining Northrop Grumman’s strategic IT direction, developing an overall IT architecture, managing all major project initiatives, and developing common Capability Maturity Model Integrated Level 3 processes across the IT Solutions organization.
Other responsibilities included leading a national project management workforce, which leveraged best practices, processes and expertise from across the country, and leading the development and deployment of sector and enterprise-wide ERP, engineering and e-business solutions.
As the director of software engineering, Mr. Furukawa directed the full life-cycle development through support of Northrop Grumman’s engineering, manufacturing, business and logistics information systems. With this responsibility, he managed a national workforce of more than 1,100 software engineering professionals and managers, applying common Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model Level 3 processes and leveraging the expertise and best practices from across the nation to deliver IT solutions. In this role, Mr. Furukawa implemented and supported SAP, PeopleSoft and Lawson ERP solutions across the corporation.
Mr. Furukawa earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. He also holds a Six Sigma Greenbelt certificate.
