Joan Wada is currently a systems engineer in Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) located in Anaheim, Calif. Prior to this position, she was a software engineer at Boeing’s Command and Control division.
As a systems engineer, she uses her technical knowledge and problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) systems arena. In this capacity, she has consistently demonstrated technical proficiency and generated innovative ideas, resulting in 12 patents in the development of new Guidance and Control instruments for the Next Generation Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
As an Associate Technical Fellow, Joan’s skills have been sought out for many projects in other Boeing divisions and she continues to act in an advisory capacity. In addition, she is a strong supporter of the Boeing Mentoring Program, and her actions have enhanced the Boeing technical base across all IDS businesses, as well as the individual profiles of her protégés.
Joan is also a member of the Employee Engagement Team for Process Improvement on the ICBM Program. Her responsibilities include improving processes and focusing on customer satisfaction. She uses teamwork and camaraderie to empower team members to positively influence program direction. Joan is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), as well as a member of several local affinity groups, such as the Amelia Earhart Society.
Joan received a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and an MBA from the California State University, San Bernardino.
