Mike is currently the Senior Manager of Software Development at Cisco Systems, Inc. His department comprised of over twenty software engineers and managers working on several development programs concurrently in the USA, Japan and Canada. Mike’s performance over the years demonstrates exceptional results in meeting quality, schedule and budget requirements in diverse fields of Metro Ethernet, Network Protocols ISDN, Frame Relay, SS7 and Real Time Applications. Mike is leading the Platform-independent Ethernet Infrastructure Architecture & Software Development for all Cisco platforms. He is the driving force in making the Ethernet Infrastructure the de facto standard for metro ethernet deployment in Cisco.
Mike Ma is a software engineering professional with over 20 years of hands-on technical experience. Mike’s technical and managerial leadership has produced an excellent track record in the area of Metro Ethernet, Telephony and Telecommunication. Mike demonstrates the capabilities to drive software development strategies, software and firmware architectures for producing leading edge system solutions. Mike acted as the chief architect and was the major driving force in the design, development and execution of technical design methodologies to provide re-usable, effective and easily maintainable software.
Prior to Cisco, from 1988 – 2000, Mike held positions as Software Director to Member of Technical Staff at several Fortune 500 companies. He led customer field support for customers in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea.
Mike is actively participating in IEEE and networking standard bodies such as IETF and ITU. At Cisco, he led Metro Ethernet Technologies Trainings, provided 802.1ag Standard Technical Tutorial Workshops for Cisco-wide International development organizations and presented Ethernet CFM & EVC architecture and design to Customers.
Mike is an active member of his local church, and a member of Cisco Asian Affinity Network (CAAN). He with his wife Jennifer, daughters Samantha and Katherine in San Jose, California.
